HOLY FUDGEBUCKETS. I FUCKING LOVED THIS BOOK. As in, I am insane right now. As in I am in need of a second read. and a third. and a fourth. IT WAS THAT MIND-BLOWING. There is no doing this book justice. There are absolutely no words that can convey how amazing and heartfelt and SO DAMN REAL this book was. Every single second, I was in agony. I was scared of it ending; I was scared/excited/agonized/so damn happy for every upcoming moment. I was just in awe. *sigh* Such a beautiful story, and like I said, there are absolutely no words in this world that can describe how much this book hit me, and made me FEEL. but, here it goes!
First off, the story’s premise was like nothing I’ve ever read about before. It was completely new and unique, and I COULD NOT WAIT. It starts off from the end of Addicted for Now, which of course already introduced us to Rose and Connor. And we already know that they’re both sexy as hell and seriously badass, but no without their baggage, and in my opinion, a little hearless. SO, now, Rose, is trying to bring her business, Calloway Couture back up the market, after it took a hit after a rough past year. and what does she do? She signs her family for a freaking REALITY TV SHOW for publicity. At that point, I was just like, HELL TO THE YES. Drama. Romance. Racing emotions. I’m so ready. But, really, I wasn’t. I was mindblown every step of the way. There was really no predicting anything that was about to happen. And, how amazing is that? I’ve always been able to kind of predict an ending or an upcoming twist, but with Kiss the Sky? NUH UH. I was shocked by every turn of the page, and either jumping up and down, and screaming YOU GO (insert character here)!!!! or screaming GO TO HELL SCOTT!! Yeup. It was just that gooooood.
So, back to Rose. With this TV show, she has the have a producer. Guys, meet asshole producer Scott. Asshole producer Scott, meet the world. UGH. Scott made a large part of the book, but every time he entered the room, hatred rose, beginning from page one. The authors created an INCREDIBLE antagonist in Scott. BUT no damn antagonist was going to get in the way of that smoking hot, perfect-for-each-other couple. NOPE. Connor Cobalt+ Rose Calloway = no room for others .
I know I should have lowered my standards-dated a guy who rides around on his skateboard with his shirt inside-out. I grimace. Just kidding. I’ll take my suit-and-tie boyfriend. I’ll take the high IQ and the rapid-fire banter. I just hope Scott’s eagerness to unsettle him won’t disrupt the reality show.
But if I know anything it’s this”
My boyfriend loves winning.
And he hates to lose even more.
And with that I give you the reason why Scott was just an asshole who just gets his ass handed to him. Kind of. Maybe. Maybe not. (NO SPOILER ZONE 😉 ) ANYWAYS. Now, from stupid producer Scott, who just wanted to complicate everyone’s life, to ass-kicking Conner Cobalt. Aka the boyfriend. Aka my dream boy. Aka the man who makes any woman swoon. ohmygoodness. Where to start. Connor is the honest one. The blunt one. Yet, he’s the fixer. The overachiever. The one who goes to any lengths to fulfill his dreams, and protect the ones he loves. and DOES HE EVER.
Connor Cobalt is one piece of work, all in the good way, of course. But the part of this book that made it the most endearing to me was that his growth, and the fact that he becomes a LOVING person, with an actual, beating, caring heart. In the Addicted series, he was the one who did what it took to get things done. No-nonsense type of guy. But, in this one, Krista and Becca showed us every single raw emotion behind the decisions he’s made. The agony. The happiness. Everything. This book took me through Connor’s emotions behind the scenes, unlike the Addicted series, which only showed the results of his actions. AND DAMN. That was one tummy-dropping rollercoaster. Every single scene of him, I was going:
Oh dear lord. I’m really never get over him
THEN, there’s Rose. She’s the one who belongs to Connor. Why? SO MANY DANG REASONS. but really, it’s because he not only understands her, but he poses a challenge to her every single step of their relationship, and again, that relationship, those challenges, and the SMOKIN chemistry between the two of them made the book come alive. I’m still reeling. *grins* Rose, however, is such a badass. it’s ridiculous. Every time she opened her mouth, she was on a roll, whether it be against Scott, or in favor of Lily or Connor, she was ON A ROLL. She really didn’t care about what others thought of her. She had her goals. Her dreams, and a family who she loved, and that’s all that mattered. Basically, she is the best female character EVER.
Ok, yeah. There is no talking about this book without talking about the heart-throbbing chemistry between Rose and Connor. IT FAN-FLIPPIN-TASTIC. I could NOT get enough of those two. The thing I loved most about their relationship was their gushing hearts. They opened up to each other, taking each step with love and jaw-dropping moments of affection. My previous thoughts of them from the Addicted series were that they were the most heartless ones out the group. But by the end of Kiss the Sky, I was BALLING. I was overrun by tears. I could not handle the growth I saw in Rose’s ability to accept love, and in Connor’s ability to give it. To believe that he could love Rose.
You’re not a pit stop. You’re my finish line. There’s no one after you. I kiss her powerfully, my tongue parting her lips…..I want you for eternity, not for a brief moment in time.
LIKE, who can reject THAT?! No one. Period. Rose and Connor were the perfect pair. Their HILARIOUS banter made me laugh every time, but more importantly, their unconditional support for each other made them better people, and brought out the best in both of them. AND THAT was what made the book and their story truly BEAUTIFUL. Im still in tears. I mean:
AND SUPPORT SYSTEM STRIKES AGAIN. Lily and Lo, of course, adorable and HOT. The way they stayed strong for each other through the whole TV show and the aftermath still awes me, and this book was no different. BUT, for me, it was totally RYKE AND DAISY. OMG. RYKE in Kiss the Sky= 1012091230943X RYKE in the Addicted Series. There was so much tension in the air betweeen those two, and their story combined with Connor and Rose, omg. that’s all i’m going to say. BUT HONESTLY, I don’t know how Krista and Becca Ritchie created such unique, lovable, and badass characters. They all contributed to the book in soooo many ways, and it would not be the same without any one of them. The minor relationships added to that of Connor and Rose, and every character, from Lo to Ryke to Scott, helped Connor and Rose blossom as a couple, and that teamwork was brilliant.
This book was emotional rollercoaster, but I wouldn’t change a second of it. In fact, I plan on experiencing it OVER and OVER. It is a MUST READ. Connor and Rose are such beautiful people, as are all the people around them, and this story was just so beautiful. *wipes away a tear* Thank you so much for bringing Connor and Rose into my life. Now I have the image of the perfect life. 🙂 This book was beyond everything I expected, and on a scale of 1 to 10, it was 49583024713923.
SO, that said, 6 FREAKING BUTTERFLIES to Kiss the Sky, even though it definitely deserves more 😉

She’s addicted to sex. He’s addicted to booze…the only way out is rock bottom.
No one would suspect shy Lily Calloway’s biggest secret. While everyone is dancing at college bars, Lily stays in the bathroom. To get laid. Her compulsion leads her to one-night stands, steamy hookups and events she shamefully regrets. The only person who knows her secret happens to have one of his own.
Loren Hale’s best friend is his bottle of bourbon. Lily comes at a close second. For three years, they’ve pretended to be in a real relationship, hiding their addictions from their families. They’ve mastered the art of concealing flasks and random guys that filter in and out of their apartment.
But as they sink beneath the weight of their addictions, they cling harder to their destructive relationship and wonder if a life together, for real, is better than a lie. Strangers and family begin to infiltrate their guarded lives, and with new challenges, they realize they may not just be addicted to alcohol and sex.
Their real vice may be each other.
ADDICTED. BIG TIME. i don’t even know how to start.
OK, so, this is not a series I would have normally picked up, but a friend told me about it with RAVING reviews..I mean, she was GUSHING. and, right now, so am I! I love being surprised by books, and this is one of the biggest of all. LIKE SERIOUSLY. god, okay.
First warning, these books were off-the-charts intense. Every second of it was either pure agony, happiness, or a moment filled with hope, and sometimes the hope held up, and something I deflated like a freaking balloon. YEP. there is no hiding from this book. Every emotion is evident, and all-consuming, and sometimes I was yelling and screaming in anger and desperation, and sometimes in happiness and with hope. (all in my head of course. 😉 ) SO, in saying that, I’m sure there will be those of you who don’t like it, but I’m telling you RIGHT NOW, give it a try, because it turned my world UPSIDE DOWN, INSIDE AND OUT.
In the books, there are two mains: Lily and Lo, aka two messed up people who have been addicted, BADLY. Lily, to sex, and Lo, to alcohol. LIKE FULL BLOWN ADDICTED. and with their kind of addiction, there was no covering it up, and no bottling it up inside. Every second of these books, I FELT Lo’s and Lily’s pain as they indulge, sacrifice, and try to get over their addictions for each other. I FELT EVERY SINGLE MOMENT, from Lily’s embarrassment to Lo’s frustration in Addicted to You and to both their desperation in Addicted for Now. I don’t know how Krista and Becca Ritchie made the words on their pages transform into emotions in my mind, but they did. oh yeah they totally did. consider me MIND BLOWN. OOPS. i think I forgot to mention something pretty darn important: their love for each other. In the beginning, they were just roommates letting each other swim in their pool of addiction, to the point where they were drowning. but once they realized what they were doing to each other, everything came together. OK, maybe not everything, but they did. Throughout the entire series, their love for each other and their confidence in each other’s strength and will to get over their addictions was INCREDIBLE. and that’s what made the series so heartfelt and emotional, in a good way (of course!) 🙂
LILY AND LO, *SIGH* they went through so much together. UGH. yet they handled it, despite their difficulties. yeah it may not have been the prettiest sight ever, but it was realistic; believable, and THAT was why I loved every second, every word, every DARN KISS, FIGHT, AND EVERYTHING ELSE that made their relationship what it was. Lo, oh man…that boy, PERF. OK, as PERF as an addict can be; as perfect as a human being can be. He was flawed, big time, but seriously, that’s what made him beautiful, inside and out, as he stood by Lily EVERY SECOND, through the media, through her inner struggles, through his rehab…
“Only the bad parts,” he says. He takes the first step forward. And then another. And another. Until our shoes touch, until his thumb strokes my cheek. “I’ll always be yours. No distance or time apart will change that, Lily. You need to believe that.”
yup. just breath-taking that one was..
THEN, there’s Lily. Not gonna lie. She was a total train wreck, that one. But, I know that this series never would’be hit me as hard if her addiction hadn’t been as enveloping and hard to overcome as it was for her. HER STRENGTH? AWE-INSPIRING. The first book was good, and then in the second, MAN, she just knocked me off of my feet. her love for Loren? OFF.THE.CHARTS. She’s addicted to sex. Lo’s in rehab. She’s his girlfriend. He’s not there. Yeah, you can see how that might be a problem? YEP. BUT SHE DID IT. SHE FREAKING DID IT. *victory dance* 🙂
“One,” I say in a small voice. “I will not look at porn.”
“I thought this was supposed to be a proclamation.” Ryke rocks on the balls of his feet. He leans forward and says, “I can’t even hear you.”
“Say it like you mean it,” Rose agrees with a supportive nod.
“Scream it,” Connor adds.
“I will not look at porn!”…
“Two. I will not masturbate!”…
“Three. I will not be compulsive about sex!”…
“And four,” I pause as I look at these final words. They mean the absolute most to me. “I will not cheat on Loren Hale!”
YIPPEEEE 🙂 this made %&#($@ HAPPY!
SO, i think I mentioned this, but MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS? THE SUPPORT SYSTEM. like seriously. best FRIENDS EVAR. RYKE. CONNOR. ROSE. DAISY. OMG. can’t get over them AT ALL. Ryke…oh dear god..give me a moment to just appreciate that guy..ok done. 😉 Ryke is one of my favs, because of his blunt honesty and his relationship, ahem ahem (if I tell you, it would be a total spoiler…so I WONT 🙂 ) His ability to be Lo’s rock through everything and force Lily to do what had to be done in the beginning…*SIGH* and, let’s not forget about his
good looks EXTREMELY SWOON-INDUCING face, body, and basically everything else 🙂
CONNOR? hell to the yes. MAN. perfect match up for Rose, and honestly, one the best supporting characters I’ve ever read about. Without doubt, he is the one I would want by my side, because he was blunt to the point of brutal honesty, and supportive to the the point of tears.
And then, there’s Rose and Daisy, Lily’s sisters. GOD, Rose. She is one hell of a woman. At the beginning, she’s the only one who ever really tried to insert herself into a distant and holed-up Lily’s life. she has her own problems too, but that doesn’t stop her from being the supportive and trustworthy sister who eventually becomes Lily’s personal savior, in so many ways…and then there’s Daisy, who only really starts to show up a little later, but her antics and attempts to grow up way too fast, as a result of her job, always add to the grins and sometimes, the heart pounding, that I came across throughout the series. AND can i say? I TOTALLY AGREE. Daisy and Ryke? YES PUH-LEASE.
YEP, this series was definitely a good one. I AM SO DARN EXCITED FOR THE BOOKS COMING UP, everyone’s stories. omg. let me catch my breath….yeah definitely excited 🙂 EEEEP!!!
OH, and of course, the series? THIS SERIES ABSOLUTELY DESERVES FIVE FREAKING PERFECT, BEAUTIFUL BUTTERFLIES.
