Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4)

SYNOPSIS

Best friends since they could walk. In love since the age of fourteen.
Complete strangers since this morning.
He’ll do anything to remember. She’ll do anything to forget.

My FEEEELINGS
AAAHHH!!!!!! I HONESTLY DON’T KNOW WHERE TO START.
So, the story.
Charlie and Silas are two people who woke up with no recollection of their past whatsoever. They have no idea what their worlds are built on. But all they know is that they woke up at the same time, in the same situation. At this point, I’m going to stop, because if I tell you anything else, it will be a spoiler. And *spoiler free zone* 😉
That said, I LOOOOVED THIS STORY. The plot twists. The feeeels. The rekindling friendships. Reading Charlie and Silas discovering little bits of themselves everyday made me fall in love with them. I felt their pain and confusion and happiness every single step of the way, and they had me on edge, like
13301384
and

Never Never was definitely a book I would read a million times over, and if you have read Don’t Look Back by Jennifer Armentrout, it had that mystery/suspense feel to it, which I absolutely loooved. It had everything I appreciate in a boy, girl, and book. The humor, puns, gorgeous boy, confident girl. But what I liked most about it was the way everything fell into place so perfectly.
The mystery in this book, in my opinion, was FLAWLESS. There were sooo many scenarios running through my head at any given moment, trying to guess what Silas and Charlie’s pasts were, but with every detail and every scene, I lost myself in their story a little more. This book told me nothing, and so much at the same time. One minute you think you know what’s going to happen and BAM! NOPE. There go your predictions.
And I cannot forget about the writing. Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher are goddesses, suffice to say. I can’t get over how brilliantly they put this story on paper. Like, please.

We’re branded. You and me. We are so in love, Charlie. You feeling it yet? Do I make your heart go pitter patter

The only thing that I felt was the story was too short, and the craziest part of the book was basically squished into the last chapter, but I kinda loved it like that because it made the suspense more potent. Anyways, I completely recommend reading this. It is definitely up there on my lists of breathtakingly suspenseful books. But BE WARNED. The cliffhanger is one that made me stare at my computer for a good 10 minutes, with a face like:
11577966
I’m gonna make you fall in love with me again.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4)

SYNOPSIS

Sometimes wrong can feel oh so right . . .

Jenna Lacombe needs complete control, whether it’s in the streets . . . or between the sheets. So when she sets out on a solo road trip to visit her family in New Orleans, she’s beyond annoyed that the infuriatingly sexy Jack Oliver wants to hitch a ride with her. Ever since they shared a wild night together last year, he’s been trying to strip away her defenses one by one. He claims he’s just coming along to keep her safe-but what’s not safe for her is prolonged exposure to the tattooed hottie.

Jack can’t get Jenna out from under his skin. She makes him feel alive again after his old life nearly destroyed him-and losing her is not an option. Now Jack’s troubles are catching up to him, and he’s forced to return to his hometown in Louisiana. But when his secrets put them both in harm’s way, Jenna will have to figure out how far she’s willing to let love in . . . and how much she already has.

My FEEEELINGS
So, Right Kind of Wrong!!!! 🙂 I really enjoyed this book because it was such an easy read! I zipped through it because every event that occurred drew me further into the book. The plot developed a lot as the book got into its middle and to the end, and I loved every moment of the reveals and twists. I really enjoyed it overall!!!
So, the main girl we have is JENNA! We were first introduced to Jenna in Best Kind of Broken when she’s seen as Pixie’s roommate, and now, we see her as the main. Jenna has a bunch of problems, her biggest one being about not being able to be in control of a situation. She has this plan for herself, and sometimes I got soooo frustrated with her for not just saying F you to the plan and skipping into happily ever after. But I understood why she did it. And even though sometimes she made me go like
Harry-Potter,
most of the time, I was grinning because of her sass and attitude, or just grinning because she was just such a supportive, strong, and kind person even when she was fighting herself and Jack.
As for JACK, our main guy, there was SO much that was going on. In the beginning, he seemed like the nice, alpha male types who just have success under their belt and good looks to go with it. But then, his issues get added on. And THEN we see him with his family. And by this point, I’m just like
Frustration
WHY CAN’T GUYS LIKE JACK BE REAL?!?!
So, basically he was hella fierce, and I enjoyed every second of his hotness, arrogance (heh.) and loving moments.
Right Kind of Wrong was a great read. I definitely enjoyed it, because I read it one sitting, and just wanted to go back and highlight the hell out of it 😉 This book is the third in the Finding Fate series, but it’s completely doable to read it as a standalone!!! 🙂 ❤

EXCERPT

His eyes dance as he watches my struggle. “What’s your plan here, Jenna? Haul me out of the car and leave me in the street?”

“Sounds good to me.”

“Well, that doesn’t sound friendly at all,” he says, flicking the lever to recline to seat a bit so he looks even more relaxed than before.

“I wasn’t trying to be friendly,” I grit out.

“Clearly.”

I try pulling him out again, to no avail. He’s giant and solid, and honestly, just touching him is turning me on.

I drop my hands and glower at him. “You can’t just tell me that you’re coming along on my road trip.”

He cocks his head. “Would you feel better if I asked?”

“Not especially.”

“Jenna.” He leans forward and his gaze bores through me, down into the deepest parts of my being. “Will you please let me join you on your trip to Louisiana?”

For a moment, I’m lost in his eyes, debating with myself. I don’t trust myself around Jack. Not at all. But I did spend half the night tossing in my sleep with nightmares about traveling alone so maybe having Jack tag along might not be so bad after all. Maybe.

Pulling back, I straighten my shoulders and relent, like usual when it comes to Jack.

“Fine,” I huff out as I stomp back to my side of the car in climb in. “But no talking,” I say, hoping I haven’t just made a huge mistake.

He grins and I turn away.

Surely I can manage to keep my panties on around Jack for a few days…right?

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Harry Potter, #4)

SYNOPSIS

Taryn grew up in a different world. Her boyfriend was a criminal. His older brother was part of a gang. They weren’t great people, but they were her family. Then everything changes when she’s sent to a new family in the neighboring town. New family. New friends. A new world. She’s elated. This is her chance for a new beginning, but secrets start being revealed and Taryn learns her new life has some ties to her old one, ties that she’s not happy about. Her new family might not have been the lucky break she thought she had.

My FEEEELINGS
AH! Another AHMAZING read from Tijan!! I really enjoyed reading A Whole New Crowd for a multitude of reasons. It was well-paced and had everything I needed, from the annoying characters, to the confusing ones, to the heart-breaking ones. From the frustrating moments to the OHMYGOSH ones. I found a book boyfriend in Tray *sigh*
heh
and the crazy girl I love in Taryn.
They both made me feel like HOW? AW!!! OMG!! YAAS!! ugh…Basically,
me omg yes
Honestly, I loved a lot about this books. First, the plot was well done. It had a lot of twists, but not overly so. The beginning was a bit slow, but I appreciated that because the beginning is the gateway to the rest of the book, and the background needed to be set. I really liked the double life of the book, as it swung from Taryn’s old life to her new one, and back again. I loved seeing all the different sides of every single character, and somehow, Tijan made it happen. INCREDIBLE. 🙂
Tray and Taryn were a great couple. AWNC wasn’t overly romantic. It was just right. It was the perfect mix of drama, action, and romance. I fell in love with not only the characters but the entirety of the books 🙂
I ENJOYED THE ENTIRE THING, which I can not say for many books.
As for the characters, my favorite character would probably have to be Jase. He’s so mysterious, and there’s so many layers to him that I’m just dying to find out more about him. Plus, he’s so dang hot. HEHE
Anyways, I would definitely recommend this book. To all those Tijan lovers, this is another one of her fantastic reads that you just can’t stop until you hit the very last page. And to those who have not yet discovered her, GO! 🙂

TEASER ALERT

“She’s one of mine. She’s one of us.” He spread his arms out wide and raised his voice even louder. “We persevere. We’re the strong. We take on any circumstances and we still thrive. We’re going to keep thriving. Hell, we’re going to conquer. She’s got that rush in her and she won’t be satisfied with you. None of you. You just wait and see.” He looked down at me, his eyebrows lifted, as if seeing me for the first time. He fell back a step. Sweat was running down his face. He whispered to me, “I’ll wait for you, Taryn. I love you. You’re mine. No one else can take your place.”
Tears were rolling down my face. I ignored them.

SYNOPSIS

A sizzling hot, new SPIRAL OF BLISS spin-off novel from New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Nina Lane

“Do you ever let go, storm girl?” he asked. “Ever lose control? Ever surrender?”
“Never,” I whispered. “I never surrender.”
A smile of both promise and warning curved his beautiful mouth.
“You will.”

Atmospheric scientist Kelsey March is under siege. Her tornado research project is on the skids and she’s fighting conflict in her university department. So when irresistible bad boy Archer West suggests a hot, wild fling while he’s in town, Kelsey is unable to resist his sexy offer.

Kelsey and Archer embark on a intense, exhilarating affair. But soon their differences and private battles encroach on their desire, and Kelsey discovers that Archer is a storm she can’t control.

My FEEEELINGS
SO, Break the Sky! Totally won me over. And I absolutely LOVED it. 🙂
Three things that I LOVED:
The completely swoonworthy hero who not only was perfectly bad boyish, but also sassy and HOT
The strong, strom-chasing, and sexy professor (#girlpower) 😉
A man who’s good with a baby
Oh wait…make that four things: THE HOT SCENES. *OMG SWOOOON*
Okay, so Kelsey March is our heroine. She is the type of woman who battled her way through life and made the perfect living for herself. But she has the demons and every one of those demons is what Archer West (our man and yes, the brother of Dean from the Spiral of Bliss series) threatens to bring up in her life. She hates losing control. She hates taking risks. But what ends up happening? Yup. I already really admired Kelsey from Dean and Liv’s stories, but her personality of humor mixed with vulnerability and a tinge of sass made me fall in girl-crush mode. sigh.
And Archer. I mean, what more can I say than:
FANGIRLING
Hehe. I absolutely loved Archer. He was the perfect mix of badass, romantic, and SEXY AS HELL. With SEXY AS HELL taking the lead 😉
I enjoyed every moment he had with Kelsey, and there was no moment where I didn’t really make me smile or swoon. He was on fire.
“Liar, liar, pants on fire,” I said instead.
“Oh my pants are definitely on fire, baby”
I MEAN COME ON. *fans self*
And then he goes again.
KELSEY: No. I’m in the cereal aisle of the grocery store.
ARCHER:I’ll frost your flakes good, baby.
FIST BUMP
AND
HEHE
Seriously. I loved him
The book in itself was one gorgeous read. I thought it started off a bit slow, but don’t worry later, you will be balling, laughing so hard, and sighing and swooning and fanning to the max. It got exponentially better as the book went on, and once again, Nina Lane delivered a story that touched my heart, made it pound, made it it stop, and then restarted it again. Beautiful.
I triple dog dare you to read this SCORCHING HOT love story, because it will definitely sweep you off you feet. I mean, how could it not with a panty-dropping, sex-on-wheels kind of guy 😉

I guarantee that by the end of this book, you will have a new book boyfriend, a new girl crush, and a HUGEASS book hangover. 🙂 3..2..1…GO!

synopsis blog

In this sequel to Wallbanger, the second book in the Cocktail series, fan favorites Caroline and Simon negotiate the rollercoaster of their new relationship while house-sitting in San Francisco.

Playing house was never so much fun—or so confusing. With her boss on her honeymoon, Caroline’s working crazy long hours to keep the interior design company running—especially since she’s also the lead designer for the renovation of a gorgeous old hotel on Sausalito. So with her hotshot photographer boyfriend gallivanting all over the world for his job, she and Simon are heavy-duty into “absence makes the heart grow fonder” mode. Neither has any complaints about the great reunion sex, though! Then Simon decides he’s tired of so much travelling, and he’s suddenly home more. A lot more. And wanting Caroline home more, too. Though their friends’ romantic lives provide plenty of welcome distraction, eventually Caroline and Simon have to sort their relationship out. Neither wants “out of sight, out of mind,” but can they create their own happy mid-ground cliché?

USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton delivers another delicious, frothy cocktail of a book, shaking up her characters, stirring in laugh-out-loud humor, and serving sizzling romance straight up!

My Feelings!
AAAAAND THEY’RE BACK!!!! SIMON AND CAROLINE ARE BAACK!!!!! 🙂 🙂 When I first saw Rusty Nailed on my Kindle, I couldn’t stop staring because I was just SO excited 🙂 And then I dove right in! I really like Rusty Nailed. To be honest, not as much as Wallbanger because it wasn’t as funny, but it was such a great read because of the characters, especially my favs, Simon, Caroline, and of course, Clive the cat (: And of course, the support staff: Mimi, Sophia, Ryan, Neal, and Jillian made their appearances! YAY!
Alright, so, Caroline? Yup. Still the gorgeous, witty, hilarious, and best heroine ever. Except, now we get to see the angsty side of her. Rusty Nailed was more on the after-happily-ever-what-could-go-wrong side, in that a lot of the book was Simon and Caroline exploring their relationship and figuring out how to balance everything in their lives while moving forward. So, there was a bit more drama and NO NO NO!!! moments in this one. But I LOVED IT. I loved the trouble and angst because it made the book so engaging and easy to read and so easy to stay in touch with the characters and their feelings. So, basically, I really loved it because of Caroline’s down-to-earth, no shitting me attitude. I seriously love her. Because of her character and narration throughout the book, awkward moments became hilarious, and funny & cute moments were ADORABLE. So, even though this book wasn’t as funny as Wallbanger, it was still hella funny 🙂
AND SIMON!!!! hehe. 😉 Simon is seriously the greatest man ever. He is funny, sooooo kind, GORGEOUS, HOT, and of course, a world-traveling photographer. So, basically, the perfect man. 😉 And the perfection continued in Rusty Nailed. Simon was completely adorable once again. The obsession with the breads ( and every other food the Caroline makes) makes an appearance! YES! And every time, it is the funniest thing ever when he’s drooling over food. And more than that, he’s the sweet Simon too! But he’s a sweet Simon with a bit of sass and lots of humor too.
..”Look, I adore you, and I want a home. Again. With you.”
That did it. Cue the waterworks.
“You’re killing me Simon.” I sniffled, tears and nose beginning to run.
“I know. I’m very cute when I’m vulnerable,” he said, making me snort in a very unladylike manner.
HEHE SEE!!! Simon and Caroline are totally back 🙂 I really love the easygoing yet serious relationship that Simon and Caroline have. I think in Rusty Nailed, a lot of the tensions are outside factors, like work and friend drama, but they always get through it, whether it’s with little moments or a huge blowout of emotion. I absolutely love how they’re so funny and complement each other so well, and it was such a great read, to see them strike, yet again. Their relationship is the best.

“Well, good goddamn, Dr. Phil, color me impressed,” I said, clinking my coffee cup next to his. “So what do we do next? Y’know, as people in a relationship after they’ve resolved a conflict?”

“Pretty sure a blow job should follow this,” he said seriously.

HAHA
So, even though we actually see a lot of Mimi, Ryan, Neal, Sophia, and Jillian, Simon and Caroline are still, hands-down, my favs 🙂
They had me laughing until my stomach kind of hurt, and clutching my bed sheet in fear in their angsty moments, so it was kind of fantastic 😉
Rusty Nailed was a great read. It was a great mix of everything you want to see in a book. It had the
andrew garfield...LAUGHING

 and the

HOT rbd

and the

OMGOMGJONSTEWART

HAHAHA. Basically, you should really read it, because you will fall in love with Simon and Caroline, and Clive, ONCE AGAIN 🙂

RED HOT OBSESSIONS WAS SOME SERIOUSLY HOT STUFF. Just saying 😉

No, but honestly, theses short stories/mini-books were GREAT, because they ranged over every type of love story one could ever wish for. Every author took their own spin on these hot gorgeous boys and the witty and full-of-humor girls, and it was SUCH a great read. PLUS, I got to read 10 books in one shot. So, it was great.

Some of my favs? Were actually the first two I read. His Wicked Games and Fierce. I really liked these two the best because they had such great storylines, and made my heart pound, but they were completely different stories.

His Wicked Games is the adult love story, and it was so fun watching the main character, Lily, as she journeys her way through the man that is Calder, who was one FINE man. 😉 What I loved most about this story was that it didn’t oversell anything or anyone. The story ran very smoothly, and usually, when I read short stories, I sometimes feel as if the stories are forced and authors are clamoring to put huge story into less words, and that just annoys me at times. But His Wicked Games was really smooth in that Lily’s and Calder’s stories weren’t rushed at all. In fact, they took their time exploring each other and, even though I felt it was a litttle predictable ;), I still really enjoyed their story and YAY for happy endings 🙂 🙂 I would give it 3.5/4 STARS!

Next, we have Fierce, which was some seriously good reading material 😉 It follows the story of college freshman, Autumn who meets other college freshman, Hunter, but theirs isn’t the typical college romance, because Hunter is a bad boy. And when I say bad, I mean BAD. But, I mean bad boys are always the best right? 😉 Hehe. I actually really felt the chemistry between the two, and at times I was feeling for Autumn, because I was like, “What the hell is Hunter doing right now?!”, but it all worked out. The thing I liked most about Fierce? The intricately woven story. I had my doubts in the beginning, but it was a great ride. All the plot twists and events had me guessing until the very end and speaking, of the end, YAY! I absolutely loved the ending on Fierce. It was in no way abrupt. Rather, it brought the entire story to an end while bringing the entire story together and giving me and the rest of the audiences the closure needed 😉 It was a GREEAT ending and I LOVED LOVED LOVED HUNTER ❤ 🙂 I give Fierce 4 STARS!

All in all, Red Hot Obsessions was a great read! There were so many great characters and stories in one anthology and it was soooo much fun getting to see their stories play out and all of them come into their happy endings.
As a whole, I give it 4 STARS!!!! 🙂

  1. Olivia Rigal sings every Wednesday night in the karaoke club
  2. Olivia Rigal went to dog grooming school
  3. Lacey Silks had a passion for acting when she was a teen. As an extra she met Marlon Brando, Matthew Broderick, Ricky Lake, Brendan Fraser, Jerry O’Connell and Shirly MacLain
  4. Lacey Silks is afraid of flying. If you ever sit beside her on a plane, don’t mind the Hail Mary’s. And good luck getting to the bathroom. She will not unbuckle her seat belt through the entire flight
  5. Before she was an author, Ember casey worked as a pastry chef. She’s never met a cake (or puff pastry, or tart, or chocolate truffle) she didn’t love
  6. Ember Casey started writing Romance because her critique group kept telling her that her attempts at Young Adult were too, uh, “adult”
  7. J.C. Valentine is a reality TV junkie. The Kardashians hold her prisoner often and without mercy
  8. J.C. Valentine loves thunderstorms. They’re perfect for writing
  9. Clarissa Wild always drinks tea when writing, and she needs at least 2 cups of earl grey tea a day
  10. Like the main character in her book Fierce, Clarissa Wild is actually quite a book-nerd, and not just that … she loves playing videogames as well
  11. Sky Corgan actually participates in the BDSM lifestyle as a dominant
  12. Sky Corgan has to have complete silence while writing, so no coffee shop writing
  13. V.J. Chambers still watches The Vampire Diaries, and she’s still on Team Damon
  14. V.J. Chambers has a cat called Isis, and she does not like to relinquish the keyboard for her to actually write. She would rather lie on it
  15. Blair Babylon has lived in 5 US states: Arizona, Connecticut, Iowa, New Jersey and New York
  16. Blair Babylon was a child actor and model who did over 30 TV commercials and a short-lived PBS series
  17. During her tween years, Molly McLain began writing while listening to Wednesday night dedications and requests on radio. synopsis blog

It wasn’t exactly like spunky, photography student, Abbie Nartey ran away from her life…except, that she left under the cover of darkness and put three thousand miles between her and her ex-boyfriend’s betrayal. She went to London searching for her dream. She never expected to find love, or herself.

Heir to his family’s tech fortune, sexy, Alexi Chase, is looking for freedom—from his family and from his past. What he’s not looking for is love. With secrets like his, he can’t afford to let anyone get too close. But a chance rescue has him wondering if the price of keeping secrets is too high.

Will Alexi risk losing love to keep his past hidden? Will Abbie trust herself enough to love again? Or will their pasts keep then from accepting true love?

This book contains mature themes and is intended for audiences 18+

My Feelings!

London Bound was really a great read for me. It had everything I love. The hot boy. The beautiful girl. And the adventure, haunting pasts, and gorgeous supporting crew that make a book whole. Abbie and Lex were such a great couple, and their story was neither too fast nor too slow. It was just so right, and they were seriously made to be with each other, and I felt it.

AND SO, let’s start with Abbie. Who I adored btw 🙂 She was a girl caught up in a bad situation, and who had the guts to finally take her life into her own hands, and have the ability and strength to recognize what her true passion was. She basically followed her dreams to the other side of the world, and for that alone I already admired her. And I was only like 30 pages into the book. So, of course, she gets better and better, in my opinion. She is one levelheaded and strong girlie, but I think what got me the most was that she didn’t let her past dictate her present, and she let go of all her bad experiences to let herself discover what happiness was, and she found that with Lex. *SIGH* SO BEAUTIFUL ;’) Basically, their happy moments had me going like this for the entire time.. 😉

YYAYAYAYAYA friends.

Speaking of beautiful…and gorgeous…and hot…and BRITISH 😉 HAHA Lex was a great hero. He had the typically great looks and money, but he had the haunted past and the personal issues as well. For me, the only kind-of bummer was the predictability of the big dark secrets. I was pretty much able to piece together a lot of the twists from the book, and personally, I love me some surprises, so Lex’s story and all the reactions to it were not as poignant as they could have been. But other than that, I really enjoyed his relationships with everyone, especially Gemma and Xander, because it showed the depth of his loyalty and love for both of them *hint hint* HAHAH JK. no spoiler zone.

And of course, he totally fell head-over-heels for Abbie, and I definitely loved that part as well. Made me want my own happy ending. And in London, of course. I loved the banter, the straight-talking, and the pep talks that all the characters received from each other. I saw the family within the book, and for me, that is what makes a good book better: when the supporting characters really feel like a part of the story and everything and everyone comes together to make a perfect cast 🙂

All in all, I really enjoyed this read, and other than a few minor things, I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a dreams-comes-true or making-my-own-way read 🙂 It was seriously such a cute read and I loved Lex and Abbie the entire way, and I know you guys will too 🙂

Synopsis

Amy has a secret: no one has ever held her hand. She doesn’t even know how to hug. Everybody thinks she’s brilliant, but that’s because school was all she had. Then she meets Dane, a golden-haired surfer whose easy charm and hot touch teach her what she longs to know.

Dane lives for the salty breeze and a sweet wave, because that’s all he has. He’s lived on the streets since he was fourteen. A drifter. Homeless. But Amy changes everything. Smart and accomplished, she’s everything he’s not. He wants to be the sort of man who deserves her.

Except that means facing down his past—and that past might very well swallow them both.

My Feelings!

How To Say Goodbye was a pure, heartwarming love story, and I really liked that about it! It was a book filled with its moments, but I think the only drawback for me was that it also had its really annoying moments. There were moments during the book where I just wanted to tell Dane and/or Amy GOD YOU TWO ARE PERFECTLY GOOD PEOPLE. YOU DESERVE EACH OTHER. DON’T PUSH. PULL.

LOL.Okay, sorry. 😉 Anyways, as for characters, they were pretty easily relatable. Both of them had not-so-pretty pasts, and both of them were allowing their pasts to haunt them. But for the first time, I felt the female lead was a lot stronger than the male lead. WHICH I TOTALLY LOVED. 😉 At the beginning, you begin to love Dane, and the fact that he slowly brings Amy out of her shell, and while she’s willing to come out and give him all she has. But, then I started to realized that he was taking a lot, and the moment anything of his past came up, he started to shut down. I was kinda mad that he wasn’t willing to do the same for Amy, and in a way, that made me dislike his character a little more. BUT, I did really enjoy Amy, because of her growth and constant willingness to step out of her comfort zone and put it all on the line. She is seriously one amazingly and innately good person, and I was immediately drawn to her and her warmth *sigh* She was so cute 🙂

And about the character backgrounds, I felt like there was a much deeper direction Amber Lin could have gone with the story, but I kind of regretted that she kept it a little too PG, and personally, there wasn’t enough angst to keep me with the story. The story was set a little too much around the main characters themselves, and I would have loved to get to know more about them through their relationships with other supporting characters, but I didn’t feel a lot of that happening. But FYI, whatever was going on between Amy and Dane, was fantastic because I was smiling every time they were together. They were one seriously perfect couple, when they were together. SIGH.

OKAY, so with everything, 3 BUTTERFLIES from me!

Excerpt

“Ellie, can you answer me one question?”
“Yes, Hilary. Your uniform makes you look like a brown Power Ranger.”
Hilary rolled her eyes all the way back and gave Ellie a “ha ha ha” through clenched teeth. A couple wearing matching tracksuits walked in and Hil gave them menus before returning her attention to Ellie.
“Eleanor, I’m being serious. Answer me one question and I won’t give you any more crap about school. Deal?”
Ellie pointed at Hilary. “Shoot, Megazord.”
“Why, oh why do you have to turn every confrontation with an authority figure into World War Four?”
“Wait, you want to know, essentially, why I can’t deal?” Hilary nodded emphatically, and Ellie continued. “Oh, that’s easy peezy. We can all thank Mrs. Richards.”
“Who the hell is Mrs. Richards?” Hilary asked.
“My kindergarten teacher. I will never forgive or forget that bitch.”
“Why? What did she do?”
“I’m glad you asked. See, the first day of school, Mrs. Richards gave us a note to give to our parents, letting them know that parents were responsible for their own kid’s snacks and drinks.” A security guard and two Chickentown employees joined the audience. “So, Tammy, that’s my mom’s name for those who are new to the show here, she reads the first part of the note but not the second. That would be the part which gives examples of what appropriate healthy snacks and drinks are recommended. The word ‘healthy’ was underlined and in bold print. You can see where this is going, right?” She motioned toward Hilary, who smiled and nodded. “So Mommy Dearest stops off at Quick Chek on the way to school and grabs me a Mountain Dew and Twinkies.”
There was a collective groan from the peanut gallery. Hilary used the pause in the story to take some orders before allowing Ellie to go on.
“Anyway, snack time rolls around, I open my Lion King lunch box and start digging in. Bitch Richards sees my Twinkies and comes flying at me like a hawk. She screams at me, throws away my Twinkies, and then walks me around the room pointing out examples of healthy snacks.”
“You’re kidding me.” Hilary laughed, picturing little Ellie being tortured by this teacher.
“I would not kid you about snacks. It was like five full minutes of ‘See, Ellie, that’s a banana. Bananas are an example of a healthy snack.’ Finally I snapped.”
“What did you do?”
“I cried and smashed my lunch box against the chalkboard. When Mrs. Richards said she was calling my mom, I called her a big green bitch.”
The entire congregation in the restaurant giggled at once.
“Why is that so funny? What the hell does that even mean?”
“I dunno. She was standing next to a Statue of Liberty poster. It didn’t make sense, but it was very effective as an insult. That was the first class I was ever kicked out of, and I’ve been a pain in the collective ass of the world ever since.”
Hehe. World ass. That’s funny.
My Feelings!
AW! ELLIE ♥ Okay, so Ellie Stanton is not my typical type of book. But I really enjoyed her story. I enjoyed reading every second of the hardships, the witty remarks, and just Ellie’s story in general. There was so much going on not just in the words and on the page, but beneath every word and page. There was so much emotion and such a great story to tell with Ellie, and Aurora Zahni did such a great job with her words.
Okay, so Ellie? AWESOME. She was soooo amazing and soooo relatable. I’m a teenager. And yeah, I didn’t have her past or her present, but I understood her. And that’s what I thought was the beauty of the book. Ellie was a character that anyone could relate to. She had the vulnerability that was so evident, but what she said and did was the total opposite of it. I don’t know what I was expecting with Ellie, but I was pleasantly surprised at every turn. From the beginning, I was drawn to her somewhat snarky yet hilarious personality. She made me laugh, and stick my tongue out at so many people in that book for her sake, and then I also felt for her so bad.
I was hooked to Ellie and her story. I think, this was the quote that started it all for me, and made me laugh for the first time.
“Dont be a smart-ass, Eleanor. You’re lucky I didn’t leave your ass rotting on the couch this morning. I’m not the one who is going to get expelled if she misses another day of class this semester.” Tammy paused her rant long enough to light her smoke. “I’m not the one who cut class, slept with the kid up the street, and keeps getting suspended. Remember, I’m doing you a favor, so how about you shut up so we can get this over with?
“Whatever, mother. Today is Taco Day. You cannot ruin Taco Day.” Ellie drooled a little bit as she said it.
YEAH THATS RIGHT snaps fingers
OH SNAP. haha.
Ellie was faced with so much drama and pain while her own mother was beating her down, and she comes up with Taco Day? YES. HELLL YES. 🙂 I loved her so much. I loved her willingness to run away and somewhat stand up to her mom, who by the way is a total b****. And then, there was her beautiful relationship with Hilary, who was like an older version of Ellie, and a mom to her. It was great to see her grow in this books, and there were so many moments in her journey that made her even more beautiful to me. I absolutely adored this book, and it’s a definite recommendation to any of you guys who want a story to relate to and a girl who seems to have a part of you inside of her.

Synopsis

The Sanctum, an all-powerful governing body founded by ten families, entrusted to maintain the peace amongst Magicals and ensure the ignorance of humans, has been corrupted by greed and savagery for generations, but is all Wyatt Clayworth has ever known.

A descendant of one of the Founding Families and Class A Warrior, Wyatt has always believed in the ways of The Sanctum, having grown up in the system and thrived under their leadership. A golden boy, renowned for his prowess and skill in battle, Wyatt has never questioned a mission or kill order until the night he crosses paths with a brutally injured and mysterious girl.

Scouring Central Park with his best friend and fellow Class A Warrior, Ryker Morrison, for the hybrid demon prophesied to bring an end to The Sanctum and destroy the world for Magicals and humans alike, Wyatt instead finds Dev and his whole life turns upside down. Told he was hunting a killing machine, hellbent on wreaking havoc and destruction upon all it encounters, Wyatt instead sees nothing more than a broken girl with haunted eyes and a bit of a death wish.

All Dev wants is for Wyatt to either kill her or leave her alone. When he refuses to do either, she finds herself being pulled into his life while being hunted by warriors everywhere she turns. Drawn to one another for reasons they cannot begin to explain to themselves, much less anyone else, Wyatt is determined to protect Dev and help her realize her mission to avenge the deaths of her family at the hands of The Sanctum. His abdication of his duties and his outright rejection of his responsibilities to The Sanctum create a maelstrom of events beyond anyone’s imagination.

My Feelings!
YAYAYAY!!!!! I feel like I have been waiting for this books FOREVER!! 🙂 Book One: The Girl (The Sanctum) was a GREAT/AMAZING/FAN-FREAKING-TASTIC read!! For me, it was kind of a mix of House of Night and Blue Bloods, but it was a mix of their best qualities. This book had the BEST character evar, whether it be the supporting characters or the the mains. The writing was soooo good that the story that it told was just so clear and smooth, and the plot was soooo intriguing and it commanded my  attention every second and every page. Basically, I LOVED it 🙂
The story revolves around Dev and Wyatt. Their world is rules by a group of people who are known as the Sanctum. Wyatt and his family have been part of the Sanctum for generations and the Sanctum has found that Dev, who is a hybrid demon, is very dangerous, and Wyatt has been part of the killing squad sent out on her. But, when Dev comes into the picture and Wyatt finds her, he sees nothing but a broken girl, so he takes her in, and from there a LOT is revealed about Dev’s past, her parents, Wyatt’s family, and Wyatt and Dev’s relationship *grins*
So, the main characters were AMAZEBAAALLS 🙂 Dev and Wyatt were soooo cute together, and yeah, their relationship develops preetty quickly, but I guess that’s how it is in their world, right? Wyatt was on of those boys who I fell in love with from the start. He was soo sweet, but he still had the badass thing going on because he’s a warrior and all. It was so cute watching him fall for Dev, and then it was even better when he was fighting for her. But his relationship with his family was the best. Even though they were a family full of fighters, they made me laugh more than a couple of times. AND RYKER AND WYATT? I was kind of shipping them, but not really just because I loved Wyatt and Dev so much. LOL. Ryker and Wyatt had the best relationship. They told each other everything and ALWAYS had each other’s backs and it was a friendship to last the ages; one which I admired and totally fell for as a part of the story.
Then, there’s Dev. I have to say that she’s my favorite part of the book. Yeah, usually I fall in love with the badass hero, but this time it was badass heroine, because, I mean, Dev’s just a lot more badass than Wyatt. Sorry Wyatt.. 😉 She has all the special abilities, and she’s unique, and she poses a “threat” to the Sanctum, but she’s the kindest and in a way, the most broken one of them all. Dev was the person who I felt most connected to, and I loved that she was so relatable while still at times I was totally surprised about what she was. LOVE!
And then the plot? AHMAZING!!! I loved every second of this story and all the turns and twists took me by surprise. I couldn’t help but get sucked into the wonderful story that is the Girl. I REALLY hope there’s a second book (CUZ I MEAN, THAT ENDING!!! ASDKJHALSDKJH) cuz I would grab that book up the moment it hit stores *grabby hands* This book is one of the reasons that I love blogging. I doubt I would have ever heard of this book was it not for the blog tour opportunity, and THANK YOU for introducing me to Dev and Wyatt’s world, because it was a fantastic one.
Definitely,
5 AMAZING, BADASS, WARRIOR-STYLE BUTTERFLIES!!!

Without making a sound, Wyatt quickly found the exact place he was seeking. Ducking under some low-hanging tree branches, he ventured into the dark, partially-hidden lair only to be met with a less-than-welcoming blade at his throat. Dev had moved slightly from the hiding place Wyatt left her and although the lower half of her body remained immobile, her arms were functioning just fine, as evidenced by the blade drawing a thin trickle of blood from Wyatt’s neck. One wrong move and she would certainly kill him.

Wyatt slowly brought his hands up to Dev’s, wrapped his fingers around hers and painstakingly maneuvered the blade away from his neck. Only then did he dare make eye contact with her.

“You didn’t really think I was just going to leave you here, did you?” Wyatt asked as he moved to retrieve his blade from Dev.

She wasn’t quite ready to give it up and slashed at Wyatt’s outstretched hand, managing to nick his wrist.

“Crap!” Wyatt sat back on his heels, holding his wrist, and laughed, “fair enough. I deserved that. I should have told you I was coming back, but I couldn’t risk Ryker overhearing or suspecting anything. Trust me, if he thought I was coming back for you he would have spent all night watching me like a hawk. So I left you and walked away and it worked. Now get over it and give me back my blade.”

Despite the laughter in his voice, Wyatt wasn’t playing. He wanted his blade.

Her name was Odara and she had been handed down the Clayworth line since the witnessing of The Code of Ten. She was sharper than any Raven blade and fit his hand like a glove. Many had fought and died at his hand thanks to Odara. She was his protector and he wanted her back where she belonged, safely strapped to his hip.

“Kill me,” Dev offered the blade at a price.

Wyatt stood up tall and glared down at Dev, clenching his jaw in irritation.

“Kill me,” Dev challenged him again, taunting him with her smug stare and grim With blinding speed, Wyatt landed on Dev, knocking her to the ground. Before she even realized what was happening, he locked down her arms and liberated his blade from her grasp. Wyatt hovered above Dev, inches from her face, momentarily tempted to slice her throat and end all of this drama. She couldn’t move a muscle.

“You are in no position to bargain with me,” Wyatt angrily whispered, never taking his eyes off of hers. “I am faster and stronger than you. So don’t even think about toying with me like that again.”

Wyatt pushed himself off of her, replaced Odara at his hip and grinned mischievously. “For the record, my blade isn’t worth your life. I just want it back. And I asked nicely the first time.”

Dev remained in her prone position, staring up at Wyatt, uncertain of her next move. She didn’t have the strength necessary to pull herself into a seated position and she definitely was not going to ask for help.

“What?” Wyatt stared down at Dev, knowing she needed help to get up but determined to make her ask for it.

Even in the darkness, Dev could see Wyatt’s eyes sparkling with amusement.

He was thoroughly enjoying this little moment between the two of them. His pleasure made her wish she had slit his throat when she had the chance. Rather than requesting his assistance, Dev focused every ounce of her energy on rolling over onto her stomach. If she could do that, she could easily pull herself into a sitting position, Wyatt be damned. She closed her eyes and focused every fiber of her being on the task at hand but nothing happened. Her body failed to react. It didn’t even twitch. The body that had so beautifully saved her from certain death at the hands of those Sanctum fools just hours earlier now couldn’t even roll over. She shook with frustration, wanting to scream to the heavens in rage, knowing such action was futile and beneath her. So she took a calming breath, opened her eyes and glared at Wyatt.

“Ahhhh, you’re back. I was starting to miss your charming scowl,” Wyatt bent low and absentmindedly pushed some of Dev’s hair out of her eyes, “was getting worried there

Dev grabbed his hand in her vice-like grip. She hated him and his snarky “I realize you don’t like me,” Wyatt pulled his hand out of her grasp and gently placed his arms around Dev, helping her to sit, unable to look at her lying helplessly on the ground for another second, “but I’m all you’ve got so by all means, continue simmering in your hatred for me but do so with the understanding that I’m on your side.

“All this stabbing and cutting nonsense has got to end. If you want to hurt me, just imagine it, okay? Pretend. Don’t actually do it. I heal quickly but it still hurts like hell.”

“Now we’ve got to get out of here fast,” Wyatt checked his watch, alarmed at how much time had passed since he jumped out of his window, “and you still can’t walk, which means I’m going to have to pick you up again. Whether you’re okay with it or not.”

He leaned back on his heels and waited, for some reason hoping Dev would respond, all the while knowing she would not. Dev listened with keen interest to every word coming out of Wyatt’s mouth. She most certainly didn’t like him, but she had to respect his determination. He fully intended to get her out of this park and to somewhere safe and against her better judgment, a tiny part of her was relieved. It was the same, small part of her that was fiercely drawn to him, like a sickness almost. And it was the part of her she most wanted to Dev hardened her resolve, focused on her intense hatred for all things Sanctum and shut down.

For an instant, Wyatt thought he saw a spark in Dev’s eyes and just as quickly, it was gone. At that moment, for reasons unknown to himself, Wyatt resigned himself to a one- sided relationship with her, one completely based upon his will to help her. He stood up and reached for her, praying she didn’t have a blade hidden somewhere, knowing that if she did, this time she would definitely kill him. To his surprise, Dev wrapped her arms around his neck and allowed Wyatt to scoop her up and into his arms, but he thought nothing more of it, knowing full well she was merely using him to further her agenda.

And that was all right.
