The first night after Caroline moves into her fantastic new San Francisco apartment, she realizes she’s gaining an intimate knowledge of her new neighbor’s nocturnal adventures. Thanks to paper-thin walls and the guy’s athletic prowess, she can hear not just his bed banging against the wall but the ecstatic response of what seems (as loud night after loud night goes by) like an endless parade of women. And since Caroline is currently on a self-imposed dating hiatus, and her neighbor is clearly lethally attractive to women, she finds her fantasies keep her awake even longer than the noise. So when the wallbanging threatens to literally bounce her out of bed, Caroline, clad in sexual frustration and a pink baby-doll nightie, confronts Simon Parker, her heard-but-never-seen neighbor. The tension between them is as thick as the walls are thin, and the results just as mixed. Suddenly, Caroline is finding she may have discovered a whole new definition of neighborly…

THIS BOOK. *sigh* ok. I’m good now. This book was seriously sent from the gods of laughter, and they have a DARN GOOD sense of humor. Let’s just start by saying that if I wasn’t spending my time cheering on Simon+Caroline, I was laughing my ass off.

SERIOUSLY. I’m laughing right now just thinking about the book 🙂 If you’re a person who loves a good comedy, pick this book up right now because it is definitely one of the funniest, most hilarious books I have EVER read.

Ok, so let’s start off with the whole wallbanging. LOL. I fell in love with Caroline the first time she started getting annoyed. AND then, her nicknames for Simon’s gals, and the “O”. Omg. And then like that wasn’t enough, there was Purina and Clive(who is btw the best cat ever!)…the list goes on and on.

As for the characters, Caroline and Simon are seriously one of the BEST COUPLES EVAR. Throughout the book, I felt like they understood each other really well, even when they were friends, and their progress to more than cockblocker/wallbanger was really solid, believable, and amazing to witness. There was wasn’t a LOT of tension between them at any point, and I found that great because their movie nights and baking adventure made me straight-up happy ( I mean, yes they had their rough patch, but who doesn’t; (story without frustration=annoyingly sappy story 😉 ) OHH, and their nooking, wooing, wowing, *MELTING*. they were so cute.

He was wooing me. And I was letting him woo. I wanted the woo. I deserved the woo. I needed the wow that would surely follow the woo. But for now, the woo? It was whoa.

Caroline, in her own way was headstrong, knew what she wanted, and had a clear path, which was one of things I really liked about her. AND she was witty, again BEST TRAIT. The conversations between those two? HIL.AR.I.OUS. But their texts? Even better! 🙂 AND Simon? YES PLEASE. Oh gosh darn it. He was one hot boy and I was loving him every second of the book. And when I found out he was photographer *SWOON* HAHA. Yeah. He was just that good.

“Mmm, Caroline, what are you up to?” He smiled.

“I’m up to no good, that’s for sure. ”

“Come into my Tahoe, Simon,” I mumbled incoherently into his mouth.

He paused.

“Caroline, come into your what? Oh, God.”

I think what I liked most about this book, though, was that it wasn’t overly sentimental, and there was a good balance between the drama and the humor. It was DAMN FUNNY, but it had enough emotional moments to make my heart soar and my stomach drop a little. Seriously, hands-down one of the BEST romances out there. Thank you Alice Clayton for giving me a laugh…for about 2 hours STRAIGHT 😀

a PERFECT 5 for 5 for Wallbanger!

Check out Rusty-Nailed (Cocktail #2)

Playing house was never so much fun—or so confusing. With her boss on her honeymoon, Caroline’s working crazy long hours to keep the interior design company running—especially since she’s also the lead designer for the renovation of a gorgeous old hotel on Sausalito. So with her hotshot photographer boyfriend gallivanting all over the world for his job, she and Simon are heavy-duty into “absence makes the heart grow fonder” mode. Neither has any complaints about the great reunion sex, though! Then Simon decides he’s tired of so much travelling, and he’s suddenly home more. A lot more. And wanting Caroline home more, too. Though their friends’ romantic lives provide plenty of welcome distraction, eventually Caroline and Simon have to sort their relationship out. Neither wants “out of sight, out of mind,” but can they create their own happy mid-ground cliché?

Screwdrivered (Cocktail #3) by Alice Clayton

In the third book in the bestselling Cocktail series, a romantic at heart decides that she will not ever, under any circumstances, fall for the engineer next door.
Viv Franklin is a retired Army captain who now designs software programs. She’s also a romance junkie who longs for a knight in shining armor or a cowboy on a wild stallion or a strapping firefighter to sweep her off her feet. Knowing she’s never going to meet her hero by spending all her time behind her keyboard, she uproots her life to move to California, where she meets an actual cowboy. And—sigh—an engineer. But which man is truly Clark Kent and which is her Superman?
